Genitofemoral neuralgia
Patients with genitofemoral neuralgia
usually have aching, shooting or throbbing pain in the groin and
genitals. They may have altered sensations in these areas as well.
Genitofemoral nerve entrapment has been described after repair of
inguinal hernia, appendectomy, cesarean section or vasectomy.
Compression of the nerves as they exit the spine can also produce these
conditions.
It is not uncommon for the patient to present with testicular/groin pain
of spontaneous onset as there are forms of this disorder where no
apparent damage to this nerve can be ascertained.
