Sacroiliac joint, radiofrequency denervation of
This procedure is used primarily on
patients that have received positive results from several treatments of
steroid injections into the sacroiliac joint. The fact that the
injections relieved the pain gives the doctor a confirmation that the
pain is indeed being caused by the sacroiliac joint disease.
An electrical current produced by a radio wave is used to heat up a
small area of nerve tissue disabling the nerves responsible for the
conduction of pain from the joint
