Steroids

Steroids, including Cortisone or Depomedrone, are potent medications that reduce inflammation. Reducing inflammation they can cause the pain to gradually subside. They are often added to a local anaesthetic (‘numbing medicine’) to make your pain relief last longer.

They may be particularly helpful as a part of epidural injection for sciatica, facet joint injection for back pain or nerve block for an entrapped nerve; that is in painful conditions caused by inflammation or nerve irritation
